Cresotech, Inc. has released PocketLANce, a Pocket PC tool that allows browsing and
managing local Windows network resources. Designed for both personal and corporate use, PocketLANce provides the
benefits to everyone: software developers, business people, and all home users who own Pocket PCs and work with
corporate LAN resources, etc. This application provides a unique easy-to-use option of locating, retrieving and
replaying network image-, sound- and multimedia files via conventional ActiveSync connection, Ethernet network
adapter or even mobile phone/modem.
As the name implies, Cresotech PocketLANce is a software program for operations with LAN from a Windows CE- powered
device (Pocket PC). Cresotech PocketLANce turns your Pocket PC into a fully functional workstation providing it with
access to the local Windows-network resources. This program launched, there is no further necessity to use ActiveSync
each time you want to copy a file to/from PDA-device. As far as future versions appear, Pocket PC users will be able
to access their network directly, bypassing Desktop PC. This will help to fill the gap between Pocket and Desktop PC
applications.
Cresotech PocketLANce does not require any additional software drivers/libraries or extra hardware equipment. In
order to use Cresotech PocketLANce you don't even need to have an Ethernet- or PC-card! Although having one, would
give you an advantage, as far as using PC card will significantly increase the speed of network connections resulting
in more effective and comfortable work.
Moreover, PocketLANce also gives a great opportunity of remote mobile network access via mobile phone or modem
using RAS (Remote Access Service) or DUN (Dial-Up Networking). It allows external users to access the local network
anytime anywhere as if they were locally connected to the LAN.
Cresotech, Inc. is also announcing release of PocketLANce Software Development Kit.
PocketLANce SDK is a function library that gives C, C++ developers and system integrators everything they need to build
local networking capabilities into commercial or custom applications based on the Microsoft Windows-Powered Pocket PC
